How we check
- Source. Each retailer's product feed, published through an affiliate network (Awin or Rakuten Advertising): product names, prices, online availability, images and links, as the retailer reports them.
- When. Every page shows when the retailer's feed was last checked, in Eastern time. Prices and stock can change after that; the retailer's own page has the final word.
- Labels. "In stock online" means the retailer's feed lists that item as in stock. Items the retailer marks as pre-order (including in the product title) are labelled pre-order with the ship date it gives, never "in stock". Some feeds don't report stock at all; their products are labelled "listed online (stock not reported)", never "in stock". Items a feed titles "no longer available" are left out.
- Product types. Where a retailer's feed has no product category, the type comes from the product's name (for example, anything named "jeans" is under Jeans).
- Removed items. When an item leaves a retailer's feed, its page says "no longer listed" for 30 days and is then removed.
- What we don't do. No made-up ratings or reviews, no claims that items are new unless the feed says so, no in-store stock claims, and no scraping of retailer sites.
